I've never upgraded phones with the same carrier before. I usually switch carriers after my contract ends. This will be the 1st time that I'll be staying with the same carrier and upgrading to a new phone.

My girlfriend and I both have centro's and god willing on friday morning we'll both have evo's. My question is do I need to bring the centro's in with me? Do they need the old phones to transfer the numbers to the evo's?

Also, my current contract rates are pretty good as I had a good corporate discount when I originally signed up with Sprint. I don't work for that company anymore though. If I keep my mouth shut, will my old corporate discount carry over?

You will be able to keep your same discount, just mention and make sure it's all the same. I have had mine for the last 2 years without being with the company anymore.
If I were you I would just start importing your contact into gmail now, as you will need a gmail account anyway. There are a few methods of importing just do a search to find the one that works best in your case.
    Anything else just ask.

    Cool. Thanks!

I've found a few tutorials detailing the contact export/import process so I think I'll be good there.

What about bringing the old phones to the Sprint store? Do I need to worry about that or can they move the numbers to the evo's without me having the old phones with me?

    thanks again,

I've upgraded phones on Sprint several times (Samsung SCH-3500, Samsung N200, Sanyo 8100, Sanyo 8300, Samsung m610) and they have never needed my old phone.

Thats what I was telling ya about getting your contacts onto gmail before you get your phone. When you set up the phone the first thing it will ask for is your gmail login info, after you enter that it will automatically sync your gmail contacts and gmail calender, if you don't get it done before you get your phone just bring your phone in and they can transfer the contact for you.

Excellent. That's what I figured, but don't want to be driving back and forth to get my girlfriend's phone or have her complain about being without it. I don't want any hiccups -- just want to get my evo on friday morning!

I'm more of a diy kinda guy so I'll set it up myself. I tried that with Verizon a few years ago and it took the guy about an hour to transfer my contacts over to the new phone. This'll be my first Android, and looking forward to figuring it all out and playing with it. Seems like a better use of an hour to me.

    thanks to you both!
