You had to know it was coming? I mean how can a company founder for so long, bleed customers daily, and still offer more than the competition at a cheaper price? Sprint will be gone soon enough....

Damn Iowa, I am surprised at you. You usually are more thorough. :p
Apparently the news media that has been reporting this failed to mention the whole story. Its only if you are roaming.

    see linky.

Oddly enough, I've felt the same way with my primary line. (Which does use lots of data)

All the evidence I have is circumstantial and I can by no way prove it, but I think there is a lot more to the silent throttling that what's really being admitted. Quite a few times I've had slower connection speeds than people with the same device, same PRL, and in the same location as me simultaneously. But again, that's all circumstantial.

I recently switched to Verizon from sprint. The difference in speeds on 3g is not even a comparison. And I have working lte in spots near my house. I never connected to Wimax once in the year I had a 4g capable sprint phone. My litmus test is always a YouTube video. It used to take me at least fifteen minutes to watch a five minute video with sprint on 3g. Always. Now with VZW, it doesn't even buffer once.

I know there are places that sprint works well, but not here. I wish it did because I misss the unlimited data, and not worrying about tethering. Ah well.

I think this is something that got blown out of proportion.. I've read from several sources that Hessi was misquoted with this and the throttleing only (if at all) occurs while roaming.

Hum, well, I would not jump to any conclusions (surly you know how the Internet is by now), but I wonder what the top 1% is... The 4 to 6 gb of data I use each month has not been throttled... Or if it has.. Its been unnoticible. This is going to be a well above average month for my data use... Already at 2 gb of data and less than a week into my billing cycle.. No noticeable throttling yet.. Just now got 6+ down on 4G and 800kbps down on 3G (about the norm here).. Ill keep an eye on it... But I'm not too concerned.. I bet I won't notice a difference, as always.

I use a lot of data on my phone each month and have never felt like I have been throttled. Oddly enough, even my 4G service seems to have improved in the last few months. 3G has improved as well. Just my experience here in Nashville, TN.

A few years ago .. before Sprint went 3G, I had an unlimited data plan on my phone plan. After a year or so, they sent out a notice that it meant 5 MG cap/month with various "remedies" Sprint would take if data usage was "abused".
Based on that history, it would not surprise me if Sprint repeated the practice at some future date by defining with a cap.
3G signal strength varies so much here. Sometimes, my Katana (pre 3G) gets a better signal from Sprint.

Funny you say this.... I used to have full bars at my house with sprint one second and the next it would be roaming with no data. Idk what they have going on, but it is unimpressive.

*Sigh* So now Sprint isn't unlimited, has the worst data speeds, and worst coverage of all the major carriers? And considering they've bet the farm on the iPhone, looks like we can expect Sprint as we know it to be gone in a years time.

What makes you say Sprint isn't unlimited? As previous posted said, throttling is only for the top 1% of roaming customers. You can still use unlimited data on your phone if you are on Sprint's network (for now).

Whether he was misquoted, or backtracked, doesn't really matter. What matters is we retain our unlimited for now :D

    maybe.. maybe.. maybe...

the speeds are getting better lately.. because..
customers are leaving for other carriers.. and the NOW network is now available.

    True!

And, I just saw Sprint has NO plans to start limiting data anytime soon. :)
According to their President of Network Operations, Steve Elfman. He said, "Unlimited will continue to be a major component of its service offering."

    True

it may also be that Sprint is being very aggressive in adding and updating their towers. Network Enhancement map

Contrary to what some folks are saying or the Sprint haters out there, I see Sprint as a sleeping giant and will make a comeback in 2013.

I say 2013 because as fast as they are implementing network Vision and adding/updating the towers for LTE, they should have basically everyone in the country on LTE by end of 2012/ begining of 2013.

The Galaxy Nexus is just one skip and hop, there will be many others, even a cdma, wimax, lte phone which I predict will be announced in June.

As for surviving 2012, oh please, they have gone through worst and they are still here. Again, Sprint is the sleeping giant

I tried to hold out until they could get their ish together. Where I am the coverage map has gotten smaller and the speeds are horrendous. 4g? Yeah right. I wasn't going to lock into another 2 years. I hope they do survive, and that they expand. But for now I don't see it happening.
