So I'm getting an Evo 3D whenever that comes out, but I'm passing on my Evo 4G to my girlfriend. I dropped the phone awhile back which may or may not caused issues with the power button, though my issues began rather recently. I'm curious if I should use the insurance that I pay for accidental damage through sprint or should I go through the 1 year Htc warranty? You can tell that it was dropped, but not on the power button, it's closer to the top left of the phone. Any suggestions?
I'm pretty sure HTC won't fix your phone due to the one year warranty. The HTC warranty doesn't cover drops only manufacture defects. You would have to go through Sprint because HTC is going to charge you if you send it back to them
I thought that might be the case. Does anybody have the insurance through Sprint? I think they have a copay but I'm not sure.
as posted the HTC warranty will not cover this as its seen to them as wear and tear. if you have sprint insurance, they will replace it if they cant fix it. there is a cost for either method. sprint, if you recall (and you have been here long enough) has changed their insurance costs. here is the thread: http://androidforums.com/sprint/206868-new-tep-policy.html
i would if its substantially different looking than the stock rom. but smoke this over for a better idea: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/217397-can-repair-shops-know-my-phone-rooted.html
Just posted in there if anybody knows of a thread that will explain how to get my phone completely back to stock. If anyone in here knows I'd appreciate it very much!
