I went to the Sprint store in downtown Seattle this morning to get my old Blackberry 8330 fixed (bad battery for second time). So I was talking to the rep about the EVO and what they expected, and he said they expected a good supply of phones, and they would be opening the store at 7 am on June 4. Normally they open at 9 am. So if any of you are planning on getting to a Sprint store early on June 4, you might call to see if they are going to open early.

And, FWIW, the rep also said Sprint was reserving 70% of the EVOs to sell through its own channels and their partners were allocated 30%.

I asked my Sprint store about pre-ordering from RS or BB. He said they would have a fraction of the phones the Sprint stores will have. He'd said there be no problem getting a phone June 4th morning.

Oooh Where is the downtown store? I was worried I might not be able to get one since I have to work 830-5, but if they open at 7 I could easily get one before work! I wonder if Sprint stores will also do discounts like the student discount for 15% off my monthly bill...

Downtown store is on Union, between 5th and 6th. I don't know about student discounts, but I get my corporate employee discount of 27%(monthy charges only; i.e. no discount on the phone) at this store.

    517 Union Street
    Seattle, WA 98101

    This is a ReadyNow store

I'd call just to check I got the right info. Hate to see you make a trip for nothing!

Awesome! I will give them a call to see if they do the buyback program and the student discount. If so I am just going to go this route.

    Thanks for the info!

Good luck. I'm pretty sure you can only get the 15% student discount through studentrate's sprint link.

1 of the 3-5 surrounding stores is opening an hour early. I'm thinking on going there but not to sure because there are always a lot of people at that particular store.

I've been working with a associate at that store named Samson who is cool. If you want to case the store beforehand I would recommend talking to him as he is pretty quick to deal, but is very honest.
He said the store manager was going to give the EVO meant for the advocate to whoever had the most sales that month, which I thought was a good motivator.

Great. I think I will check it out this weekend.

I'm trying to figure out the best place to try to get my phone. A Smart Wireless Sprint rep stated he would get me a 27% discount on my monthly bill but didnt specify how and stated they arent taking pre orders but to call him 2 days in advance and he would try to set one aside for me (because i wont get off work til 5).

The assistant mgr at Radio shack kiosk in the mall stated that he could give me the 15% student discount and hold one aside for me if i called him a couple of days in advance. I wouldnt have to deal with the MIR that way. However I dont know if I trust either of those sources to actually get the discounts and a phone for sure after work that day.

I figure if I show up at Sprint downtown at 630am I will for sure get a phone and could possibly try to get some sort of discount through them too. Best way to get the phone, but I would also like to try to get my bill down a bit.

One of the reasons I am switching to Sprint from Verizon is to save money. I pay $95 a month after taxes on Verizon (but this is because somehow I am still on Oregon cell phone taxes, which are like $2 per month). I'm pretty sure by switching to Sprint my cell taxes will be $15-20 in this state, putting me right back at the $95 per month (including the $10 4G/remove data cap fee). So I liked the sound of 15% off (~$85 a month) or 27% off (~$70 a month).

Any suggestions? I think I will just go down there this weekend and see if I would qualify for any legit discounts that Sprint actually gives out.

They were handing out discounts that they shouldn't have been, using codes for gov employees and credit unions and what have you. My rep told me he could get me 20% off when I talked to him in March, but today he told Sprint was cracking down and doing audits on discounts (now that they have a hot phone). My family plan is still cheaper than VZW or Tmo, so I don't care too much.
