can i take the start up sounds off
so i can turn my phone on silently
dont think u can but just put the sound off b4 u switch it off n it bootys up silent
Only if your rooted.
i am rooted
Then you need to find the startup sound file in root explorer and change the name, just delete the last letter or something. I just had a look for it as I was writing this and I can't find it so maybe you can't. Although revolution rom comes with a mod to turn it off.
how do i do this
Open up root explorer, navigate to the folder of the file I said above, and rename it
i did this but it told me i couldnt rename file only view
You have mounted /system as read only. You need to mount it as rw (read/write)
ok i renamed it
came out turned phone off and on
and it still does it
Reboot again and see if its worked. It takes a reboot for changes to take affect.
still there when the phone reboots it does it still
ive done it
it was the poweron.wav
i renamed that and it work
The poweron.wav must renamed.
There is an APP in the market called "silent boot" which works very well.
Yes, Silent Boot also support S2
It works for me in my S2.
I had the power on in that place and the power off in the system/media folder.
