I know there is a BUNCH of stuff here on how to unroot but none of it is working for my phone. I have gotten to the step after copying PC36IMG.zip to my SDROOT and after that point nothing happens.

S-ON is present up top on the bootloader.

Any questions please do ask, I need help urgently!
    Thanks guys

Did you download it on your pc? Double check to make sure it doesn't have .zip.zip at the end. Also double check its not in a folder on your card. You probably did these things but that's all I can think of

You have to boot to hboot. Once there if named properly and in the right place it will update. Say yes then yes to reboot.

So +1 to metal fan check name and location

i recently had to uninstall the natarchy-toastmods kernel, all root apps,i didnt use unrevokeds s-on tool bcuz i heard that it will make rerooting my Evo easier than having s-on. the only reason i unrooted my device was to update to the official Evo update to 2.3.3. I tried everything i could think of to install the OTA official Gingerbread update without unrooting my device, but i had to unroot my Evo to update. All i did was download the latest PC36img.zipthat has the same bootloader version as ur device. I just installed the PC36img zip to the root of my sdcard and when i went in to bootloader it found it right away. Like the others suggested make sure u dont lable it .zip.zip,bcuz Windows doesnt show the .zip after the file, even tho its there. If u have the same HBoot version and the correct PC36img zip version that matches your bootloader version, it should work/flash fine. One other thing to consider is your sdcard. Is it degraded, old, formatted incorrectly.I have had issues with an sdcard before,it wouldnt flash roms to my old T.Pro 2 and when i switched it then everything workd fine..Just another In the past i was able to update OTA,but i lost root everytime. However since i leave the S-off Unrevoked has managed to reroot my device after the last firmware update. but now newest Unrevoked3 root tool wont root the Evo with the OTA GB 2.3.3 update.
On another not, does amyone else think that HTC purposely only updated to GB 2.3.3 so that they can still release one more OTA update for the EVO 4G to GB 2.3.4. Before they discontinue all updates for the Evo. Bcuz i can see the Evo getting an official GB update to 2.3.4,but i highly doubt HTC will ever update the Evo to Honeycomb 3.0. I can see the new Evo 3D probably getting the Honeycomb 3.0 update, but not the Evo 4G. I just hope that they will release an OTA update to 2.3.4 for the OG Evo 4G. The device is already a little over a year old and its still getting the newest, mostly newest, OTA updates. keep up the great work Sprint and HTC. HTC devices are by far the most superior devices. So in another 13 months, when im eligible for a device upgrade, cant wait to see what mobile Android powered devices they offer then,Hopefully by then they will have released whatever device is going to follow the Evo 3D,bcuz the Evo 3D looks awesome. I got to play with one for a little bit bcuz a friend of mine is a tech and HTC/Sprint got an Evo 3D before the official release to familiarize themselves with it before it hits the shelves. I must say i havent been as impressed since i tried the original Snapdragon processors compared to my previous HTC Touch Pro 2s processor, which is still a great device/processor,but the Scorpion series is awesome, and was well ahaead of its time. sorry for starying off topic.
Hope u get your Evo unrooted. I know that there are several cell device stores that will root, flash ur device, flash roms, and even unroot your device for a decent price.

this brings me to a point. Please tell me you arent unrooting to get the OTA. We can just flash that at this point and unrooting is entirely unnecessary to do this.

    My bootloader says:
Supersonic EVT3 Ship S-Off (I'm running Unrevoked 3 not Unrevoked Forever)
    MICROP- 041f
    Radio - 2.15.00.11.19

    Software information:
    AV - 2.2
    BV - 2.15.00.11.19
    KV - 2.6.17 - gee557fd htc-kernel@and 12-2 #15
    BN - 3.70.651.1 CL294884 release-keys
    SN - 3.70.651.1
    BV - Webkit 3.1
    PRIV - 1.90_003
    PRLV - 60679
(Im trying to include as much information as possible)

PC36IMG.zip is at the root of my SD, and it is not .zip.zip, I go to restart the bootloader after flashing it in recovery and it does not scan for anything, and it never did even before rooting. I have tried to install PC36IMG.zip in recovery, and that doesn't work either apparently.

I need to get this phone back into Sprint before Thursday.
    PLEASE help.

    and I think it is PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.30.651.3_Radio_2.15. 00.09.01_NV_1.77_003_release_157088-signed.zip
I did rename it to just PC36IMG.

    It was from XDA.

You need the one for hboot 2.10. That one is older than your current version so it won't work. It will be software version 3.70 and have the same radio version you have currently.

    Try this one: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=MUSAURP7

"Finding update package, Opening update package, E: Can't open /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip(bad), Installation aborted"

ok try re-downloading it and try again. sometimes it could be a bad download. just to make sure is it named correctly? no extra ".zip" and it is on the root of the sd card?

You need to run the s-on tool first though or you won't have recovery to run it after the PC36IMG file flashes.

ok so i did not pay attention my bad. multi tasking.
so yeah unrooting is a two step process:
    1. flash s-on tool first: Unrevoked S-On Tool
2.install stock recovery and stock rom via PC36IMG

Unrevoked 3 flashes Forever as part of the process. You need s-on before flashing the PC36IMG file.
