Stock Email App doesn't open Yahoo Groups messages

I'm in a few Yahoo listserves and I get all of the messages through these lists forwarded to my hotmail account. This hotmail account is setup through the stock android email app. Most of the messages that come through the listserve to my hotmail cannot be viewed, I just see the little "loading" logo and nothing. When running a rom with Sense, and using the sense mail app, everything's fine, but the vanilla mail app has always had a problem. Even if i mark it as read without opening the message, it gets marked as unread again. Any ideas?
