Alll over the internet, I see people saying "you can't rotate stock home screen on 2.1!" That's a bunch of bullcrap. I was on my phone this morning and I was using some app (cannot remember, sadly!) and when I hit home, the screen was really rotated perfectly- laucher right side up on the right, the apps were even vertically placed! The home screen widgets were glitch-less- 100% perfect home screen rotation! But I didn't believe it, and when I rotated it back it when right side up as it normally was, then I tried to rotate it again and it wouldn't go back!

Somebody here knows what to do, and I want to find out! And I'm not downloading any switcher apps, so please don't suggest it! (and i don't have a rooted system lol nor interested ^_^)

That's happened to me once as well. I was using an app and holding the phone in landscape mode, pressed the home button to exit the app and when the homescreen displayed all the icons were orientated in landscape prefectly. I then rotated the phone to portrait and the icons rotated so they were shown upright. Tried to rotate back to landscape but no dice. This was just using the stock touch whiz as well.

It doesn't have the setting to rotate, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't or can't rotate.

I've seen it happen as described. Pretty random, non-repeatable event just like the supposed screen capture button press that isn't suppose to work but does on rare occasions.

If you have a desk dock (maybe the car dock too, I don't own that so I can't say) it will rotate the TouchWiz homescreens in the dock and for awhile after you remove the phone from the dock.

Which "desk dock" would that be? Mine does not rotate TouchWiz..

It's not so much that touchwiz can't, but rather that when they put it on our particular phone they locked it into portrait mode. Guessing they felt it was only needed if the phone had a physical keyboard.

yea thats what i meant when i said it does not rotate on the captivate, touchwiz does rotate, but not on the captivate. it appears there are some glitches that allow it but they arent supposed to.

personally i hate rotating launchers, if im laying down scrolling through the screens and i turn my hand just a little to the side everything stops and i have to wait on it to rotate. definitely not my thing

Senior member or not, you don't know everything. Don't talk like you do on my post. Notice I'm not the only one too. Ur wrong. 10 word responses are for a holes.

And the person who DID answer wat I mean- said it was conincedence thank you so much! I was gettin mad cuz i couldn't figure it out lol. Bt I hav one more question; what made the phone put it in perfec landscape mode? Like it wasn't buggy at all. Curious about that

i answered youre question, if you wanted an explanation you shouldve asked for it. and i dont know everything, but i was right on this one, and if i dont know an answer for certain i am always sure to point it out. i was not trying to be mean, i was answering. maybe next time ill give you an 11 word explanation too, maybe that will make you happier? and if you read my post right above the one you just made you will see i said its probably just a glitch or a bug, the reason it rotated for you is that stock touchwiz can rotate, what is provided on the captivate cannot, and thats why it looked decent.

I've got the Stock Samsung dock. You just have to exit out of the Desk Home app and TouchWiz is in landscape mode.
