Stock Recoveries Never Have Backup Option?

    Just curious as to why that option has never been added to any stock recovery. Why do you think it's never been adopted as a needed feature.

    Probably regarded as too techy for the end user. And Google want you to back up to their cloud so they can rummage through your data rather than take local backups ;)

    Not usually in recovery, but some manufacturers do provides a means of backing up your data before doing any firmware updates. Oppo does, and as @Hadron mentioned, there's Google as well of course.

    Thinking about how it would work with Samsung Knox firmware. If you were able to make a nandroid backup of Stock 5.1 with stock recovery then updated to 6.0, would Knox let you restore the 5.1 backup? Usually can't downgrade.
