Is there a way or app that anyone knows of that would enable me to stop charging battery at say 70%.

I have read that it makes the battery last longer by not fully charging it all the way to 100%.

I don't know specifically about lithium batteries, but I'm pretty sure that would either be of no benefit whatsoever, or it would wreck other battery types.

every manual says to fully charge the battery for like 8 hours before use,

the only exception ive found is in those little LIPO helicoptors that everyone gets for xmas, it is common knowledge you arent to drain them 100% as this will destroy battery life. i can assume the same could be applied to lipo in a phone

but im pretty sure we use lithium ion in these phones.. which is much different!

Sorry but no where does it mentioned to only charge to 70% it does mention something like that when storing the battery for any length of time.....but not for regular use.
