One of the features touted for Froyo was the ability to stream your desktop library to your phone.

I can't find any mention of it apart from those early announcements and feature lists.

    Did that get killed?

I don't remember anything about being able to do this with froyo.

You can try Orb. You need to setup a server on you computer, then either get the app from the market or just browse to the website to stream to your phone. Works with video, music, photos, even tv if you have a tv tuner. I use the browser to watch videos, but I bought the app for music. The music app has an interface that is much easier to navigate than the web. Hope this helps.
