Help Successfully charging bionic through in dash navigation?

I've recently installed a avic-z140bh in my car and it has 2 usb connections on it. Yet it does not seem to charge my phone. It at best maintains where its plugged in at, or lets it drain slower. The cable has a sticker showing 5v-1a on it. Am I missing something? Should this be able to charge my bionic?

I'm guessing this usb doesn't put out enough power to charge my pita phone.

Did you try the USB cable that came in the box with your Bionic?

I've been using the wall adapter with a 15' USB cable since day one without problems (or so I thought). Recently, even after 7 hours of charging time, the battery charge would top out at 80-85%. Changing to a different battery made no difference. Changing to a 6' cable allows it to charge to 100% in 2-3 hours.

The issue is Quality Control ... and troubleshooting.

The cable that came with your Bionic meets the requirements and Motorola puts their name on it.

Many of the third party cables also meet the requirements. Unfortunately some don't. Even the same part number from the same manufacturer.

You can play with third-party cables to your hearts desire. I recommend that you keep the cable that came with your Bionic handy. If you have a problem, try that cable. See if the problem disappears.

The cable that came with the PC Dock for my Droid X is identical to the cable that came with my Bionic.

I don't know so much as if it's quality control or something else in play. If what comes with the Bionic is a standard USB cable, then using any other good quality cable should not make a difference at all. Something tells me that the Motorola cable has something in it that makes it so using a different cable is not efficient for the phone. Maybe an extra contact or something. If that's the case, I can't stand proprietary stuff like that.
