Sudden crackling during calls

Hi everyone. All in all my Moto x has been a dream, but suddenly, I am getting a bad crackling sound during calls.
I looked online and it suggested adjusting the "audio enhancements" but I HAVE no "audio enhancement" and no "equalizer" option, on my lolipop moto x pure.

Any ideas on how to troubleshoot? My carrier is MetroPCS, and never had a problem yet like this.

Hey. Also on MetroPCS, was having weird crackling? type issue when downstairs even though I had 3 bars. Tried this and so far so good: Settings>More>Cellular Networks>turn off Enhanced 4G LTE Mode.
