Root Suggestions for selecting my 1st ROM?

I'm not concerned about appearance.
Want max battery life with about a 800-1000 OC freq.
Want full feature set
Want good/excellent stability

Here is a good, stable, fast, solution that is already themed (I know you are not concerned about appearance but it looks great out of the box).

Take you time and read:

and

It ain't brain surgery but be prepared!

I've tried to read the guides, but rootyourandroid is down (bandwidth exceeded).

I think I've got it pieced together after digging some last night, but it would still be helpful to have a concise sequence of events.

As I read it, the order is as follows:
From factory fresh
root using ADB
Install Nandroid / SPRecovery
flash new ROM using above
Install SetCPU and temp monitors
enjoy

Correct?

(still waiting on my phone, but I fired up Android SDK last night and updated. All seems good there.)
(I've also got RSDlite and associated part ready just in case)

One more thing, I'm using NexBeast and love it. It comes standard with Chevy's 5slot 1ghz kernal, so you won't have to worry about that (unless you want a different kernal, but i have not found a need to switch...I went from a 1.2ghz 7 slot to this and, to me, 1ghz doesn't seem any slower than 1.2ghz and I'm assuming I'll get better battery life with the 1ghz kernal.)

Oh, and...make sure you install NexBeast using the update.zip method since you're coming from a 2.0.1 ROM...NOT the nandroid method

Enjoy!
