There's a bad moon on the rise!
'Super Moon' To Rise Saturday Night : The Two-Way : NPR
Cool but nothing will beat what I saw years ago while stationed at barksdale afb. I was on a refuel of the bomber. looked out as the moon was coming up and it was low and big and a brilliant colors of red and orange and yellows. looked almost the moon was on fire. Doubt I will ever see that again.
Wish there was camera phones back then as I would have a picture of it.
It's overcast here in SC... no moon spotting for me
I saw the moon, its a bit big, but I have seen it that big a couple times before...
(In Toronto, Canada)
Wasn't as super as the media hyped it up to be. Still got some decent pictures of it though. Here's one...
It did look pretty big when it was first coming out/up, bright too. Not giganormous big, but bigger than usual.
I missed it...
Great pic! We have rain showers in KC tonight so I didn't get to see it .
Complete overcast turned to broken clouds not long after moon rise. It was fun to see though I'm like others... was not a mega event. The total lunar eclipse a couple of months back was more fun for me. Still.. I enjoyed. Thanks for the heads up.
Yup, it's big and bright. Hard to take a picture of with a camera phone, though!
The moon was actually huge looking here in western nc on the 18th and looked almost normal on the 19th
Damn, it was cloud in my city!
I spent a decade involved in astronomy as a hobby. I bought a "smart" telescope that once aligned with the sky and your exact position on earth.. would go to whatever you typed in or suggest things in your night sky to look at. It would then track that celestial body for you. It was fantastic.. enjoyed the experience with my children.. broadened my knowledge of space.. and was a great hobby. BUT... between the clouds of Kansas.. the winds of Kansas... and the nights you could go out and set up.... my times behind the telescope were limited. And just like this "big moon" event... more often than not there was some reason I couldn't experience the event.
Nice and orange like a pumpkin in AZ when I saw it...
Here in the UK Supermoon didnt seem as big as i thought it was but i could see the face on the moon
