Greetings,

I am pretty much a noob to the forum and a noob to rooting. I have had a hero for about a year upgraded to 2.1 on my own no problem. Been debating rooting and thinking about using superoneclick. Did a little research online and had some questions was hoping someone would clarify for me.

Once I run the root is there anything special that needs to be done after? Mainly i want to do this to remove bloat and move apps to sd to free up internal memory. Probably will try some roms but not till later.
Is one click as easy it sounds?

Any answers are appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi
I can help you if you want i didn't root till i was told it is very easy and safe trust me it is easy
i used the How To: Root the HTC Hero (AndRoot Method) | TheUnlockr
will tell you step by step how to do it (IT WILL ONLY WORK WITH GSM IF YOU HAVE SPRINT AND YOU USE THIS APP YOU WILL BREAK YOUR HERO)
1)follow the How To: Root the HTC Hero (AndRoot Method) | TheUnlockr
2)now get rom managet of the market
3)flash a recovery image
4)now you are done

if you want to move apps2sd you need a rom if i was you i would get a stable 2.1 rom like this one this was my first rom

you can also flash a recovey image called amon ra but i dont have the link sorry but you can find it some were in here

if you want to flash a rom ask and i will tell you how :):):):)

Hope i helped:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Thanks for the help. It is a sprint HERO i love the android and am happy with sprint just want total control if I own the phone i dont see why I shouldnt. I kept looking through some boards on here and the web in general and decided to do it. Super user is now available and it is rooted so I was able to drop the bloatware i wanted to with no side affects so far. Once i rooted I used titanium backup granted it superuser permissions removed the bloat reboot and i was done.

I have been debating adding roms in the hopes of freeing up more space on the internal memory and move some that i may not use as often. I tend to over research things before i do them but then i find i'm less often caught unaware. I'll be sure to look through past post for more information. My biggest issue is that I dont want to have to resetup my apps ringtons etc with a new rom but from what I have looked it seems unavoidable. I'll keep digging. Thanks again. Folks.

Make sure you go off the info posted in the Sprint Hero section from now on. You have a different phone to us here in the GSM section and the majority of information here will end up with you bricking your phone.
