Before buying a Htc Desire Z , I want to ask this question :

At home I have a router for surfing via my computer .

Is it possible to surf the web with this phone using Wifi ,
I guess so but I want to make sure .

I know I can surf by using a data plan but since I am
a money pincher I want only surf via Wifi .

    Thanks .

As long as your phone has wifi on it (I can't think of any android phones that don't have it) then when you are connected to wifi all data to and from your phone uses wifi, not mobile data.

If a phone didn't have Wifi... then it would definitely not be considered a smartphone. :)

The Desire Z and probably most smartphones are designed to use WiFi for data first if available. Then if no WiFi connection exists, it will use your data plan of your carrier. This applies to web browsing and email and probably for other data functions as well like social networking.

    Ah very re-assuring . Thanks all .

The right word is often so important , mobile data .....right.

I have to find out if Bell Mobility will accept to activate without
data plan . I am with Bell for 26 years and never use data nor
plan to feed them on that ...each new phone is always a moment
of acrymonious negociation ....like my Centro they wanted me
to take data plan ...finally they give up in my favor ;)

If you buy it subsidized at a lower price, they usually force a data plan for you.
