My Blu Life Play Mini phone screen cracked. I ordered a new one and brought it to the phone repair shop here for fixing. They told me that my swipe screen is not working and needs to be replaced as well. I am not in the U.S. And Im not sure these ppl here know what they're talking about. Isn't the swipe screen supposed to be part of the whole screen? The guy said he has the "missing part" for the screen to make it work but he's been trying to fix it for 2 days now and this swipe on my phone is still not working. What exactly is a swipe screen? I don't understand. And how do you fix it? I thought I had a complete screen replacement for my phone. Please someone explain this to me.

I don't really have an answer for you because it doesn't make any sense to me either. When I had first started reading, I thought it was going to be about your lockscreen (swipe to unlock). The whole display is touch sensitive, so I'm not sure what they mean by that?

Can you get the phone back and take it somewhere else, or at least get more clarification from them on what part needs to be replaced?

Yes! I just asked my boyfriend and he said yes, that this is the problem. He took my phone to the repair, not me, so I haven't seen it personally but I spoke to the guy fixing it and that's what he told me...about the phone needing something else besides the screen part. We thought about taking it to someone else already. There's only 2 ppl on the island. I heard the other one doesn't know what he's doin either.
Can we get it fixed ourselves?

There is two parts to a touch screen. The touch screen/ digitizer and a thin glass cover. Sometimes if only the glass is cracked and all the screen touch functions work, you can get by with replacing the glass.
If the touch screen/ digitizer itself is damaged, you will need to replace the whole assembly.
I have never been able to replace the glass without damaging the digitizer so I have always bought the complete assembly.
Depending on make/model, glass around $20 or less. The most expensive digitizer assembly I have bought, $140.

Almost right @Jfalls63. There are three basic layers. The outer glass, the capacitive layer and the LCD display. On some phones these must be replaced as complete assemblies. Some phones you can replace only the layer that is defective or damaged. And, some methods are easier than others. I am with you, though in that I'd replace the whole shooting match rather than fuss around with hair dryers and razor blades for hours trying to save a few bucks. :)

The complete assembly may be more expensive but with better results.
With older phones, I try to weigh the cost of the part with the used value of the phone. Sometimes it's not worth it.

Exactly. Sometimes you can get a gently used replacement on Swappa for less than the part. But back to the OP's question, I would guess that it's a semantic issue. When the shop says your 'swipe screen' they mean your digitizer assembly because that's the part of your screen you swipe over. If that's not what they mean then they have their heads up their ... chimneys. ;)

I have replaced a few Samsung screens assemblies and they didn't require anything extra. Separate the old screen from the frame. Unplug it from the motherboard and attach the new assembly.
Not sure what else would be needed but adhesive tape

JFalls, THERE IS NO OLD SCREEN.
THE WHOLE SCREEN has been replaced with the brand new screen.

Yamalito, THE LCD IS NEW. Ordered online from the Blu manufacturers

THE PHONE LOOKS BRAND NEW LIKE IT JUST CAME OUT OF THE STORE.
