I currently have a rooted Evo, which I've had since September. I love it and have tried soo many different ROMS but I've recently taken an interest in my wife's epic. I want to root it and play with it but she wont let me unless we trade phones. Is the epic better than the evo? My evo benchmarks the following... linpack 40.5, quadrant standard 1668, fps2d 52fps. Thats OC'd at 1113 hz with smartass governor. Please help!

Both phones are awesome and it honestly just comes down to preference. You can always switch back ;)

my epic with ext4 and the stock EB13 rooted was 1540 ish

after midnight rom it is 1847 and nothing is overclocked

the evo and ext4 dont go well together because of the chips in them - read my last post before this one - but the epic and ext4 as far as I can tell is great

I approve this post. Not like that holds any water or anything, but I've found the same to be true.

If you're talking about out of the box...I think the EVO is probably the way to go. If you're looking into rooting and such, the Epic (IMO) wins hands down as the hardware is just better. When rooting and flashing, etc. it's all about the hardware capabilities and the Epic's is better.

Now that the CyanogenMod fellas are cooking something up for the Epic, I have a strange feeling I'll be keeping this phone for a long, LONG time. Once they get a solid RC for CM7, I'll jump to that and probably never look at anything else.

I kinda figured this would be the case. I know the processor in the epic is better and I like the display alot better too. If I can get passed the slide out keyboard, I'll make the switch. ;)

I always forget that even exists. I've used the keyboard maybe 3-4 times since august, ever.

I don't put a whole lot of emphasis on quadrant and benchmark scores, as there are ways to "trick" the system. I focus on real world use, and go based on what I actually use the phone for.

I made the switch last week. I installed Gun Bros. and it became apparent the Evo was hurting.

Short story, make the switch, you won't be sorry.
There's only one place the Epic is severely lacking, themes. I personally like them clean and minimal. There's not many of those out there, ok any.
