I just rooted the other day and flashed Fresh 2.4. I was wondering what I need to do to try another ROM? I was thinking about trying NFXHero2.2. How does that one compare to Fresh? Thanks for the help.

Simply download the rom to your sd card, wipe data (factory reset) and dalvik cache. After wiping both of those, you just flash the new rom and reboot.

Do I need to make any kind of backups or will the ones that I made when I first rooted a week ago be enough?

If you have somewhat recent nandroids then there is no need. You could use titanium backup to backup your apps though.
