So, as some of you may know, I recently complained about keyboard lag on the latest leaked version of 2.1. I remember loving the Swype beta on 1.5 and decided to go ahead and re-download the installer. Everything installed nicely and i switched my input method to Swype. To my dismay, after swyping my first word, Swype displayed a pop up saying that "this swype package you installed is not configured for this device" and then refused to register any of my swyped words. This Eris keyboard business is now REALLY starting to piss me off.

Before I break something, does anyone know how to get Swype Beta to work on this new leak? I, and my many fragile possesions, would be eternally grateful.

I know alot of people have had this same problem, even on 1.5. I am using the 2nd leaked version of swype for HVGA and it works great. The only problem I have is getting it to recognize some patterns/words.

I had this happen to me a few times after flashing between ROM's. Ever since switching to the lite version, I dont get these errors anymore. I recommend switching as well.

Is Swype only available through the .apk, not through the market? I'm guessing yes, but I just wanted to give myself a sanity check.

When trying to open it with astro, it just opens the apk, instead of installing it. Help?

Does anyone have a Swype that works right now?

Looks like all the Swype Lite versions labeled 1.16.etc have expired, as of 27 minutes ago.

Looking for the HVGA Beta. Anyone?

Until Swype has an official solution for us, we need something in between.

    Wasn't that the original one?

I have Swype BETA but I'm not sure how to get the APK to you from it.

    If not, best of luck.

from lennyjew in the other topic:

"download a free app called system panel. open ->menu->installer->click on swype on the program list->archive

mount your sd card to the computer and is should be in a folder called apparchive"

If you're on the west coast yours might not have expired yet. It'll expire at midnight if it's from that thread.

    sed, you're completely amazing.

I'm going to see if I can optimize these .png's and put this back together, for a 'lite' version.

Yeah, +1. Mine was fine until I restarted my phone today, and bam, "your trial has expired". Why don't they just put it in the Market, charge $5 for a full version, and I'll be happy to pay twice that for it. I won't use anything else if I have a choice and I'll gladly pay for it.

You're amazing. It's sad how dependent I've become to swype. Just feels so much more fluid and natural with this keyboard though. Thanks.
