Anyone have a program that allows swyping and works well? I want to give it a shot.
do you have it installed on your phone
I can't find it in the marketplace
the beta was leaked, its not on the market
I could have sworn someone on here said they were using it and loved it.
Swype for Android 1.5 - xda-developers
shapewriter is available from the market
I was a huge Shapewriter fan, but have since gotten used to Swype. Every person I've shared it with are in love with Swype (as am I now). Great program.
Both are excellent, but I've now gotten used to Swype and it seems a bit more accurate and quick.
can you only get swype in 2.1 or what? I have 1.5 and cannot find swype anywhere. Doesnt even come up in market.
It never was...
swype works a tad bit better, but the word selection box in shapewriter is far superior. shapewriter is an excellent free option. had i not signed up for the beta on swype, i'd be happily shapewriting today.
Swype was beta test only.
is the beta closed now? beta.swype.com
I tried it. Like a 5MB keyboard. Good stuff, and it actually worked well
What's the difference between the two? I'm using SW and love it, but I've always been curious what separates the two...
Just FYI, I am using swype on 2.1 (tried it with several different roms and never had trouble with any of them running swype)
AFAIK, the official beta offer from Swype is closed. The leaked Swype app is not the same as the official beta version. I got in on the official beta invite and absolutely love Swype. There are a few things that need to be tweaked, such as defaulting to "too" instead of "to" and "thee" instead of "the". But the beta is very close to perfect IMO.

get app installer place apk on SD card.. install and have fun.. I'm loving Swype..
what is all the hype about? i'm not saying that in a condescending manner, i actually just uploaded it to my phone. but i was just wondering, what does this kb do that others don't?
Just try it for a while and your question will be answered
I tried Shapewriter and SlideIt before I tried Swype. For me, Swype is easier, faster, and gives me the right words at least 75% of the time, without having to choose from the popup list.
Swype works really nice on 2.1. It can be picky when you are writing short words or certain words. I tend to trust it to much and it will send the wrong words. I have a heck of a time trying to get it to type "don't". It keeps coming up as "sony" or "donut".
I was lucky enough to be a beta tester for swype and love it. It's not the be all end all of keyboards though. I use it in conjunction with better keyboard. I would post the official link to the beta version but I can only download it a certain number of times or will get locked out. HOWEVER, check out this site, I saw it on here. I'm not sure if it's the same as the beta or not but it's worth a try and it's free to download. Btw, I have stock 1.5 on my Sprint Hero so you don't need 2.1 to use swype.

Swype is a great keyboard, I had tried using Shapewriter before and it just didn't do it for me. I'm always amazed at how accurate Swype is, except for a few tricky words its right almost always.
Search youtube. Then you can see it before you download it.
