Root Swype?

First of all, I want to say thank you to all of you guys for the helpful guides and themes. I was able to root my phone and install BACKside with confidence thanks to you!

I seem to have lost Swype, though. I can't seem to just go ahead and install the beta version because it won't work if the phone originally came with it.
I had it saved on Titanium Backup, and tried to restore it, but I get an error every time I try to use it.

I love Swype, and I'd hate to get rid of it =(

Yea you actually can get the beta version from their website once you are rooted. Might I add that it's much better than the one that came with the device and is actually the reason I even rooted!

Didn't realize you had to be rooted (I use a different keyboard), but CM7 has root access so it works for that. :)

I have swype installed successfully. BUT everytime I reboot it switches to a different keyboard (default or slideit). If anyone can tell me how to always keep it selected I'd be very grateful!

Try this, unistall Slideit (give it less options to mess up) then shut down. When it's off, pull the battery then hold down the power button for thirty seconds. Then power back up and see what happens.

Ah ha! My rule of thumb is to imagine what would happen if your sd card failed. What apps would you still need until you could replace it. Games and such on the sd card, keyboards security apps and such stay on the phone.
