How do I get rid of the sync icon on the top bar of he X since Gingerbread?
The only thing that worked for me was a factory reset, clear data/cache in the stock recovery.
In the older leaked builds of Gingerbread as I stepped up 588 -> 591 ->595 I had to freeze blurcontactsync.apk to get rid of the persistent sync icon. Found that info on one of the forums supposedly this app is not needed. When I went to .596 rooted deodexed from .595 I didn't have to do that and I didn't have a problem with the icon. Who knows. The only other fix I have seen is the full data cache wipe.
I found a solution to this problem that works for me. So far the sync icon was my only problem since I am running a stock Droid X. What I did was remove all email and FB accounts other than Google Mail. Once I did that I re-added them/ re-log into them and it's fixed. Problem solved no need to change file names or do a system wipe or any of that drastic stuff. Hope this helps you, it worked on mine and it has been over 72 hours with no sync icon.
