Help Synching Facebook contacts with Google Contacts

Hi everyone!

I'm new to the forums and just new to the whole Android thing.

I have a Galaxy s2 (which I love btw) but am just wondering what the point is to syncing your facebook contacts with your googles contacts? I would prefer just to enter my friends who I call regularly into 'my contacts' rather than syncing them.

Does that make sense? I have noticed that some of my contacts display the same profile pic they do on facebook (in my contacts) and others don't and I don't know why.

Any help for this newby would be much appreciated!
