This is Speculation. If the picture is the real deal, Moto X is looking mighty sweet!

Unfortunately, the Moto X appears to be a downgrade (hardware wise) for power users.

For me, I dislike Motorola. They made the triumph, or at least branded it as a Motorola phone. Even if it was made by Huawei, they a still suck lol. "Never forget! "Once you are forced to use that, you will run away from the word Motorola as fast as you can. :D

It looks like it will be a cheap Nexus 4. Not interesting. Specs look disappointing.

I don't believe that the Moto X was ever supposed to be the powerhouse that many -assumed- it would be. I think that Motorola/Google intended to market the hell out of it, which they have done a fairly decent job of, which will target the masses instead of a select demographic (like the Nexus line although that is becoming slightly more mainstream).

Yeah you're probably right but I think people are going to be more disappointed since they all thought it would be an amazing phone but turns out to be midrange.

Oh, I know, but tell me - what common consumer would know the difference?

Alot of people may have contracts expiring by the end of this year. I will be eligible for an upgrade with Verizon in August and my contract expires in December. So having the Strat, the Moto X would be a big upgrade for me since the Strat will not get JB and have minor specs compared to today's phones. Hopefully, it will not cost an arm & leg to purchase it off contract.

How you've held onto the Strat for this long is beyond me :p

I guess I could buy a better used phone, but I really want to drop VZW, so I'm waiting for my contract to expire. Plus this is my first smartphone and I've learned alot since the wife bought it for me. I wish I had found this forum before buying it and I would have gotten a better phone.

The type of power you are talking about will only be apparent when compared against the most elite phones (HTC One, S4, and Snapdragon 800 devices). Even then, it's only going to mater when using VERY processor/GPU intensive applications like 3D games.

From a user experience point of view I would bet a paycheck that the user won't be able to tell a lick of difference. In fact, it may even be better than some. The S4 has notably suffered from lag due to Samsung's bloated software. This won't have that problem.

People are making WAY too big a deal on the specs. What maters is the user experience.

How? How will people know/care? If it performs just as good or better than supposedly higher end phones then what does any user actually care? It's not the size of the SoC, it's how you use it ;)

...and it looks like (from leaked reports) the moto x uses it VERY well. We will see.

I don't disagree with you in the least, but that's why I stated power users.

Power user = someone who plays 3D games?

Early reports are pointing towards T-Mobile not carrying the device in stores and that it may have to be bought from Motorola directly to start out. Does seem weird if that is the case, though T-Mobile has never really gotten/showed much Motorola love.

For me personally, the most important factor is OS upgrades. Second is weather or not there is bloatware. Third is weather or not I have to sign a contract. Fourth is weather or not there is a physical store near me so I don't have to speak with non English speaking people over the phone for support. Everything else is last. Which is why I went with an unlocked phone and T-Mobile.

Pretty sure I'm the minority though. :)
