Help Tab S MHL crashing tablets dead.

Hi guys. Just wanting to know if anyone has experienced anything similar. Or has any insight to what my be going on here.

Two weeks ago today I received myself a nice shiny new tab s 8.4. Wanted it for many reasons, partly to view programmes on TV over 4G. So I spent a small fortune on the tiny little samsung 2.0 MHL adapter for hdmi viewing.

All seemed well until I removed the device from the adapter (power lead and hdmi to TV still plugged in) the tablet went completely dead. By dead I mean wouldn't turn on, was impossible to do a soft reset. So I called my mobile provider whom I purchased the tab from who sent out a replacement.

Just yesterday I received my replacement brand new tablet. And iv been watching stuff on my tv via the mhl again. And hey presto same thing again, when plugging the tab into the mhl. Tab is completely dead.

I have to say I am not very impressed. I love the tab s otherwise, just wondering whether it's mhl problem or a problem with the tab s in general.

It sounds like you're getting a big static discharge (like a carpet shock) when you unplug the device and it's killing the tablet.

It's not a common problem - this is the first I've heard of it, hence the guess as to the cause.

It would seem so. Which is strange. It's exactly why I purchased the Samsung official MHL lead and I am also using an official Sammy charger with the unit, didn't want any aftermarket accessories messing with things. For this to occur with two tablets one after another I found quite bizarre

Maybe the MHL adapter is a lemon?

That's what I have been thinking to be honest. Understandably reluctant to try it with the next replacement I receive, just incase this is the fact. Don't see how it can be anything else to be honest, the charger is a proper samsung one iv been using so for ages so am sure it's not tbat...

In addition to the MHL adapter, I'd swap out the HDMI cable while at it - cheap insurance against the cost of the other gear.

Good thinking. I'll be sending the MHL adaptor back if I still can. And ordering a new hdmi cable too. Cheers

Cheers. I have requested for the MHL lead to he returned/refunded by the vendor. New tablet delivered this morning.
