Tail that wagged the dog frustration

I love my Note. I love everything about it. But I can't get decent AT&T reception. I have wifi in my house which is great for the data, but I can't talk on the phone. No bars.

So I have ordered a used AT&T cell tower for my home to give me phone reception.

But what do I do about on the road?

It is so frustrating. I have spent $675 for the note, $95 for a two year mechanical and accidental warranty (which I haven't even had time to activate as it just came), now $120 on ebay for a tower. I have had this for maybe 10 days?

Now I'm wondering about a MIFI type of device to carry with me. But I don't know if that would give me phone reception or even wifi reception in bad AT&T areas.

That leads me to think I now need to buy a Garmin as the phone loses reception so much.

Grrrrrrr. Of course the practical thing is to sell the Note on ebay with all the "accoutrements," and buy a Verizon phone, like the Nexus. I've even considered turning the Note into a tablet, selling the tower and getting a Nexus as it is a "free wifi device." Right? But jeez, is the Note worth all that?

    Any suggestions or ideas?

Just browsing the forum before posting my own question. Came upon this one and thought I would toss in my two cents...

My Note has better (read, much better) reception than my previous phone which I thought had really good reception. So, I am guessing that either the US spec phones are wildly different from the German market phones or AT&T is having a problem or (and this is my favourate) that the cell antenna on your phone is broken. I am going to assume that you have not had the same problem with other phones. Perhaps you should try to get a replacement.

    Hope this helps...

    Regards,
    Eric.
