So finally, a release for a GSM Hero :D

I don't think it will be long before we see a custom firmware based on this in some way. (Even if all they do is take the kernel out).

(Have a read of the XDA topic too).

Looks like the Villain boys have got their hands on it and are working away as we speak :)

Nope, but it will be soon!

BTW, over at VillainRom they are saying DO NOT flash the new radio on Orange UK.

I would imagine there's a lot of us on Orange on here

Been running this for a couple of hours, and it's safe to say (and unsurprisingly) it's by far the best 2.1 ROM out there.

Everything works, and it's really fast. no lag whatsoever.

Despite what some snobby Desire owners might think, the Hero is just as relevant as their battery sucking (but awesome) phone...

If you are thinking about trying it out, although you can switch to English, there are quite a few Taiwanese specific apps still in there taking up room, and a couple of things that crop up in Chinese. Nothing major, and I'm more than happy to run thing until a stock Euro release appears in a short while.

Personally I'm glad HTC resisted the temptation to released a early but botched release (known in the trade these days as a Xbotch for obvious reasons). They may have got ALOT of stick, but they took their time and did it right. They could have have done a better job at managing the PR side of things, but that is true of many Asian companies (HTC, Sony etc...)

If this version is anything to go by it looks like our official update will go down a lot smoother than the sprint one has.
