taking video w/ Android phone --> Chromecast?

So I thought one of the ideas behind Chromecast would be to allow me to quickly and easily play a movie I just took with my Android phone directly on my big-screen TV. But looking at the Gallery app, I don't find that option. I'm thinking then the path is not phone-->Chromecast, but phone-->upload to YouTube-->Chromecast. Right?

I believe so. you cant just directly cast any video you shot on your device, that much I know. I am sure that they will start releasing new gallery apps video players etc with the android devices that will include a native cast button.

^ exactly that.

if your phone is rooted, there will be a root-only alternative that with cast anything in the Gallery app. i don't think it's available yet, but it will come in Cyanogenmod ROMs.
