Has anyone heard if this is possible with the Evo?

The answer to this question will help me decide which version of the ipad to get.

    Thanks!

... If you are getting it, go with wifi. The 3G is very limited, to the point of being useless IMHO.

There are times when the 3g would be super useful to connect to my work server if I cannot connect another way.

Answer as of right now is no but there is a chance if you are in a 4G area. Nothing official has been said though on the matter.

in terms of data connection while voicing... 3g NO, 4g CURRENTLY no, but possibly in the future 4g will enable talk and data at the same time, allowing you to teather and talk

I will be coming to Sprint from AT&T and have a question about how incoming calls are handled while you're using data. If I'm downloading a large file, streaming a video, etc...what happens when a call comes in? Does the phone ring? Does it go to VM? Does it put the data on hold? Does the data/download resume automatically once you hang up?

depends what your doing, if your tethering, atleast as of now, on 3g, it shuts off the phone capabilities, so no incoming calls, to make a call you must first shut off your data

And if you're not tethering and just using data on the phone?

Really? I would imagine that the data flow would stop, as incoming voice calls are, in general, of higher priority than is any data use.

If you're not tethering when you get a call, it pauses and them resumes after the call ends.

This is incorrect. It did this on 1xRRT, not 1xEVDO

    So Iowa,

Are you saying you can do both, or that it automatically shuts off the data connection when a phone call comes in?

When you are on EVDO, it will shut off your data and switch to phone. I've definitely received phone calls while tethering =P

I concur.. I use to tether all the time before I got my home wifi, and you will in fact receive the call but no data....

I also concur. I'm right now tethering on the Hero thats connected to my laptop. I do this all day and always get a text, voice-call etc and it continues to tether along. lol
