I tried to not have a task killer my phone runs between 8mb to 25mb of ram and it was sooo sluggish took more than 30 seconds to make a call on my contact list. So I downloaded task panel manager I run the task panel kill tasks my runs 130mb to 190mb of ram. I opened my contact's calls open with no lag within a second call was placed. Can the experts convince not to run the task killer or keep running it?

something is up with your memory settings if you're getting down to 8MB of free memory...

while Android is meant to multi-task and keep apps in memory...it should be killing unused apps WAY before 8-25MB...

try downloading AutoKiller from the market...

then i want you to try this...

uninstall the task killer...use your phone like normal...see if it starts to lock up and get really low on memory...

open up autokiller and when you boot it up hit the menu hardkey and choose the "optimum" preset...back out of the program and see if it helps things and starts to free up some memory...

here is my opinion. If task killer is working for you then there is no reason to quit using it. Many people thought it was unnecessary and thus quite the hate wagon was created.

However, it should not sway your opinion from your experience in the slightest. Has it impacted your battery life in any way? If not I would recommend to keep doing whatever works.

I personally run custom ROMs which have built in memory management. Just ask if you wan to learn how to install one its pretty simple.

Unfortunately the app description says it requires root so your test is only relevant on a rooted phone. If the OP has that then he's all set for this experiment.
