Okay so i picked this baby up first thing this morning upgraded from my fascinate ive had since launch. Well anyways the fascinate had a built in task manager to close unwanted running apps. I was wondering if there was a task manager you guys reccomend. I ask because if you dont close wouldnt that leave them running which would drain battery? Also when you use the new button on bottom right to switch between your apps or tasks are all those that are on that list currently running in the background or are they just on a list and not running in background?

I know a lot of people use juice defender and I know someone that closes ALL the apps ALL the time but AFAIK there is no reason to do this (juice defender may do other things like stopping data). Android takes care of programs that are running in the background. BUT...if u want to, i think swiping them away in the recent programs kills them, but not 100%

i get that android will close apps but on my fascinate i could have been doing something then go on to something else and leave the previous app running and forget about it for a while then go back to my task manager and it was still running. Im not worried about clearing up my ram or anything. my reasons are purely for battery. wouldnt leaving these running apps drain battery more quickly?

There is the "recents" feature. Try using that and swipe the apps that are still running to shut them down.

From what I understand doing that does not close the apps just removes them from the list.

Anyone care to confirm or deny that?

simply put, no, they won't, the reasons why it doesn't kill your battery are explained in the links I posted. If they app runs for a period of time without being used it is automatically "cached" and does not use any processing power, therefore doesn't use any battery.

Correct, it just removes them from the list.
