trying to get to grips with Tasker (Great App with loads of potential, better guide would be great :D)

I want to create a homescreen widget that toggles car mode on and off. If it is on then when the phone rings I want bluetooth to turn on, when phone hangs up I want bluetooth to switch off.

Tried adding a widget to the homescreen and having
    1.Variable Set Name %CAR TO 1 if %CAR = 0
    2.Stop
    3. Variable Set Name %CAR to 0 if %CAR =1

    Then setting up a profile
    Event - Phone Ringing
    1.Task Bluetooth Set ON if %CAR = 1
    2.Task Bluetooth Set OFF if %CAR = 0

This is as far as I have got as I can not get BT to turn on or off, also not sure how to check the value of %CAR

If I could get the above working I would then add the call end tasks

Any help or pointing in the right direction would be appreciated.

    Thanks

Well ahead of me there then. Can't even work out how to define what a toggle does

Lol, to be honest maybe I can't either, that may be my issue.

Also have one to turn the speakerphone on if the phone is layed face down during a call then switch it off again when the call terminates (working on the pick it back up during a call)

Another one that will reply to a text that says Find Phone with the GPS location of the phone.

And the standard switching on and off of airplane mode at certain times.

Can't believe how powerful this app is.

Yeah I have a vibrate profile during the day and a silent profile during the night.

If fiance or best mate calls, silent / vibrate profile turns off then turns back on 30 secondes after,

    Timed wifi

If fiance or best mate call and I miss the call, auto sms advising I will call later.

Currently testing so may change but here you go

    1. Event: Recieved Text (Type SMS,Sender Blank, Content = Find Phone)
    Tasks
    1. GPS ON
    2. Wait: 1 Minute
    3. Variable Set (Name = %LOCATION, To = %LOC
    4. HTTP Get (Server Port = is.gd/api.php?longurl=http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%LOCATION, Mime Type = text/plain
    5. GPS OFF
    6. Send SMS (Number = %SMSRF, Message = %HTTPD)
    7. Variable Clear (Name = %LOCATION)

Tasker Wiki is a great place to start looking, pick the above up from there and I'm current amending to include a few other bits of info (maybe last number called just incase the phone has been nicked)

I'll let you know what I end up with.

On the original post I now have incoming call turning on BT and hanging up Switching it Off.

So if i'm driving the phone will switch on BT and connect, should save battery not having BT turned on all the time in the car.

Just working on the widget to toggle a variable for car mode so it doesn't happen everytime I receive a call.

Good list of built in variables, above now includes last number called out and in (%CONUM and %CNUM)

    Bluetooth issue resolved.

Dan, I used a toggle and below is how

    1. Set up a profile called Car add a Variable Set %CAR
    2. Apply a tasker widget to the homepage and add a task called CarWidget

then add to the following to task

    1. Variable Add (Name = %CAR, Value = 1, Wrap Around = 2)
    2. Set Widget Label (Name = CarWidget, Label = Car ON, IF %CAR =1)
    3. Set Widget Label (Name = CarWidget, Label = Car OFF, IF %CAR =0)

    Then add events

    1. Phone Ringing if %CAR = 1 turn BT on
    2. Hang Up if %CAR = 1 trun BT off

So now when you press the homescreen widget the label toggles between Car ON and Car OFF. The Variable %CAR has 1 added to it each time you press the widget. Because you set the Wrap value to 2 each time the varaible value reaches 2 it resets to 0 so in effect your toggling the variable value between 0 and 1

Then when I set the car mode on if the phone rings it turns BT on and connects to the car, then when you hang up it turns BT off.
