I need a screen protector and a tempered glass one.
But I have no clue which screen protector that is the one?

A tough glass screen protector that fits well and preferable with rounded corners. There are tons to choose from if one decide to go with them Chinese brands. And there are a few others costing 4-5 times the price or even more from well known vendors like Spigen.

So what do you think. Is it worth 40$ + shipping for a Spigen screen protector rather then those 3-10$ Chinese tempered screen protectors?

Anyone tried those cheap ones vs ie Spigen's?

Personal opinion; having a screen protector and a tempered one is overkill.

I use Ghost Armour http://www.ghost-armor.com/ the G3 is my 3rd phone with this product. My Nexus 4 has had it on for over a year and it hasn't peeled up or any scratch marks on it. You can't tell its there and it doesn't reduce screen sensitivity.

I have the Zagg tempered glass screen protector, love it, feels like there's nothing on the screen at all. Got it installed at the mall, so a little expensive, but I feel it's worth it. Got the skin on the back too, protects from scratches and adds a little grip to it too.

Btw how hard is it to install those tempered glass protectors? I remember the old films, those where a biatch. Either there was air pockets or it didn't line up 100%.

If it is hard to get it to align correctly I might get one locally and have them attach it to the screen.

MUCH easier to install the tempered glass ones.

I got the icarez one back on Aug.
It's still holding up great. I think anyone paying much more than $10 is crazy. Can't be anything that works much better than this does.

I got an iCarez one, not tempered glass though.

I don't have a drop story to add but do have a little story. Last week, I dropped a stapler on my G3 (don't ask!). We are only talking about a 3 to 4 in drop (not vertical drop, as I was passing the stapler over the phone but it fell out of my hand), but it was enough to put a gouge into the protector. Of course I was thankful I had a protector at all (and wondering what difference it would have made with a glass one). I rubbed (as if I was cleaning) the protector but could not get rid of the gouge and was planning to set some time aside on the weekend to replace the protector (I bought a set of 3).

So this weekend, I took out the phone, and... the scratch/gouge was GONE. I know what you're thinking, I imagined or exaggerated the gouge. No, it wasn't super deep but DEFINITELY large enough and deep enough to bug the heck out of me if I didn't replace it but there was absolutely no sign of a scratch... I mean none.

It's like it self-healed. This is the one I got:

PS - I didn't imagine dropping the stapler on it!

I just installed a Spigen screen protector on my g3 last week. And love it. I've never used one and I wish I had to keep scratches off the screen. But I bought it on eBay for $10 shipped and came with 3 screen protectors. Can't even tell there anything on the screen. Feels like I'm tapping on the screen itself. Worth the money to me.

I just got my Turbo last night and got the Gadget Guard Tempered glass protector and love it! Feels great and with the blue ballistic nylon feel like I don't need a case at all

I have used tempered glass protectors for years. I'm not sure why there's always one who preaches about gorilla glass, etc. Gorilla glass is not that durable, it's still a poly and scratchable material. For less than $10 and solid protection for your screen, it's a no brainer.

For some reason they break out of nowhere though, usually after a year. I take good care of my phone but I have had the edges "chip" after about a year. Those film protectors are ok, but they are a pain to get on without bubbles.

To install any screen protector, go in your bathroom and close the door. Run the shower on hot until it gets really steamy. Turned on yet? Now, wipe your screen clean. The steam keeps all the dust down. Now lay the tempered glass on the screen, and then tap it in the middle. It looks like it melts onto the screen as it flattens completely.

If you haven't scratched your plastic protector it's because you're careful to avoid doing so, which defeats the purpose of having a screen protector.

Aside from the advantage of near optical perfection (which plastic doesn't even come close to), tempered glass has a hardness factor of 7+ on the mohs scale, higher than any steel knife blade (which is usually between 5-6). What that means in the real world (like in your jeans pocket or purse), is sharing that space with your car keys and anything else you choose to leave in there will have NO effect on tempered glass. It will stay flawless. Try that with your plastic screen protector, or even Gorilla Glass for that matter.

I paid only $10 on Amazon for the Tech Armor version, which has held up amazingly well. My wife seems to go out of her way abusing it and it's still flawless. I've paid a lot more than $10 for all sorts flimsy plastic so-called "premium" protectors in the past that have all gotten scratched to hell. Never again.

Great. Glad you like that one. I actually just ordered another for an iPhone 5s we have and it also looks/feels great. i'm sure there are others at that price point that are good too, but it's crazy to pay any more.

I have a Spigen Glas.tr Nano Slim that I've had since purchase, so about 6 months now. No issues until a couple days ago when it chipped and cracked across the width of the protector. Not an issue at all but I'll be warranty replacing it. Haven't had any issues other than I didn't really know how to install it so I had some dust under it. I'm going to be trying the method chmodx suggested. Hopefully that will work better.

Dang - problem with delivery outside US for the screen protector. I had to get another one - 9H hardness.

It was only like 2 £ but it was the first I saw with high ranking so I will give it a try. I have high hopes for the Oleophobic coating. Maybe the screen will not be full of fingerprints anymore. I'll let you know how it works out.

I don't think the Chinese brand is poor, spend more than $10 to buy a tempered glass screen protector for the mobile is crazy, China's product quality excellent only need $2 if you don't need to calculate the freight.
