    Hello everyone.

I have an odd question. Using Eris with stock 2.1 (formerly rooted) on wifi only for my son to use and mess around with.

He loves temple run. Knowing that it had come out for android, I have been trying to install it on the Eris for him. I am running into the following problems:

    1) It doesn't show up in the android market (2.1 doesn't get play store)

    2) When I download the APK off various websites (both stock and the ARM 6 versions) it refuses to install saying I need to free more space even though I have around 73 mb available on the phone's memory (and another 7 GB on SD card)

What the heck am I doing wrong?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Since Temple Run requires Android 2.1 and up, that is not the reason it will not appear in the market for the Eris. The likely reason is that the app requires a better processor than the Eris has. There is nothing that you can do to get the app to run on an Eris if that is the case.

(A more geeky explanation is that most apps on Android are built using the Java language using the Android Software Development Kit, or SDK. If Temple Run were this sort of app, it should run fine. However, games are frequently developed using the Android NDK, or Native Development Kit, which allows developers to build apps with more powerful programing languages, such as C++, and compile and build apps directly for a specific hardware target. NDK apps generally require a CPU with a graphics processor, which the Eris lacks.)

You can look at apps on the play store on a PC browser and they will tell you, when you log in to the play store, whether the app is compatible with your device(s). It will not tell you why it is not compatible, but Temple Run tells me that it is not compatible with my Eris.

Thanks for the reply, even if the answer wasn't what I was hoping for.

I also appreciate the nerd explanation. :D

    Thanks again!
