Anyone made use of this app and it paid off for you? There are so many of these type of apps, albeit this is free as it is part of the monthly Sprint TEP protection. Not interested in the backup and restore contacts option, but the locate, remote lock and wipe options look nice.

Do I have to have both the GPS on and volume up, or will it remotely turn those on?

Well, I've used it for the opposite reasons as you are inquiring... But for what I use it for.. it works really well. Sprints Protection App Seems to be a quality App.

I have it on my Epic, and it works well. I haven't had to locate a lost phone (yet), but I have logged-in, just to see what it does.

If I understand correctly, the app has the ability to enable GPS and/or switch from silent to audible for alerts. I use another free app on my Galaxy Tab (since I won't spend $13 a month on insurance for it). However, it's mainly for location only, as long as GPS is already enabled. It lacks most of the bells and whistles of the TEP application.

If I could get the same $7 plan that I have on my Epic, I'd get it for the Tab. At $13 a month, I can't justify it.

thanks for the info. i'm going to give it a try. nice that it would turn on GPS and volume remotely. and the remote lock and wipe is nice as i don't like to use pass code or pattern on the phone. 'going to give it a test, but not the wipe option so was wondering if it has worked for others.

nope, if GPS is off, it won't turn it on remotely. the locate phone option will try to triangulate via wifi points so it looks like it could find it, but not to GPS standard. everything else works, though (i didn't test the wipe option).

Weird I have the $8 TEP on all 4 of my lines, yet my Epic and 3dvo keep telling me authentication failed, but my Evo works fine. WTF!

i got that too on my initial setup on the epic. i just exit the app and tried again and it worked. didn't get that on the evo, it jumped right in.

try again.

Yes! My original Evo Shift was irreparably damaged, and because the screen no longer worked, the guys at the repair center couldn't recover my contacts when my replacement arrived. The TEP app saved me from sending out one of those large "lost my phone... numbers needed" emails.
The rest? Can't say I've had to use them..
