Help Tethering to a phone

Has anyone been able to accomplish this. Tried to connect it to my rooted eris on wifi and it doesn't even see it. Bluetooth was a total failure as well. Also, has anyone ever seen a mini to micro usb cable? (only option left)
Sending it back and bought the asus transformer, connected right away.

I tether mine to my rooted Droid Bionic using the wifi hotspot. Works great.
