Help Text Message issue - PLEASE HELP!!!

Starting at around 11pm ET last night ALL of my incoming text messages (SMS and MMS) are showing as the contact being "hidden sender address" and the message just shows "received" along with the time. There is no option to view or download message or anything like that.

I have been searching the web but so far nothing applies to me. Most people just want to be able to delete these messages. Well for me it's not that simple. 1) I want to see what they are and 2) since ALL of my messages are coming in this way I will never receive text messages if I don't get this fixed!

Some "resolutions" talk about checking something next to "spam". I don't have that option. Some say to uncheck "auto retrieve". It doesn't matter if I have it checked or unchecked...same issue.

So the bottom line is I can't read ANY text messages I receive! I need to resolve this issue ASAP as I communicate with all of my friends this way, but I also do business this way!

I'm on a rooted LG Motion. No themes or ROMs. I am using the stock messaging app. I tried a few 3rd party apps to see if they would resolve the issue, but no luck.

I've never had this happen before and I've been rooted since the first day I had my phone, which I got in January. I haven't changed anything about my phone over the last few days. From what it looks like on the web, this is an android issue and not a device issue anyway.

I really hope someone here can help me...I have GOT to have text messaging working!!!

your best bet is to factory reset your phone.

if sms is your backbone, i recommend you use google voice. it gives you a phone number with free texting that streams to all your devices, even chrome browser on desktop/laptop. it will then forward ur calls and texts to any number you want it to. basically if you switch phones alot you can keep using that one number

I went to the metroPCS store & they put my service on a loaner phone. No issues. Put the service back on my phone. Issue.

So I had no choice but to factory restore. Everything is working now.

I tried Google Voice a long time ago but couldn't get it to stop giving me notifications in multiple places so I got rid of it. Now I've tried to get it back and I keep getting some type of message about them not accepting people at this time or something like that.
