text message notification does not go away

I read about using fixunreadcount to fix this problem but I can't figure how to run that off of my phone. My sync only syncs in mail and such and I can't actually get into my phone's files, and I don't know how to find the program when I load it onto the SD card through mounting it.

I run windows 7 if that makes any difference, thanks for any help!

AppMonster also works if u want to install an app on your sd card. I get that problem too, but it always goes away pretty quick. It usually only happens when im in a call and i get a text message. Other than that the text message notification goes away normally

well I can now locate the stuff on my SD card but I can't run the fixunreadcount program. I got astro and it asks me what app to use it with and shows me my gameboid and gbcoid apps. Is there another app to wrong programs I need to get?

no one? No one has run into this with the HTC hero? Every time I turn it off and on it goes away but it's been coming back quicker every time I've done that now.

Sorry if this is a silly question but, are you trying to run an .exe file on the phone? That's the only mention of fixunreadcount I could find on google.

This is driving me crazy.

I also cannot run fixunreadcount.exe on a Desire Z on 2.2.1. Ive tried astro and ES and File Manager and all ask me what to open using - eg Picture / video etc etc

AAAArgh

I think what makes it so frustrating is the amount of google results saying - great fixed my problem !

Please somebody put me out of my misery... or put me down.

I'm not familiar with the file you're referring to, but if it's an .exe then it's not meant to be ran from the phone (.exes are strictly windows only). Presumably you run it from a pc with the phone connected.

Thanks for your quick reply Xyro.

I have managed to calm myself down with a cup of coffee. I had to delete the whole message thread to clear the mystery ghost sms.

Is this a known android bug ?

It's not something I've heard a lot about, so lets hope it's not common and doesn't happen again to you :)

That fixedunreadcount.exe is for Windows Mobile apparently.
