Is there a way to silence the ring for a text message notification? I have a song set for it and it plays all the way through until I get to the message and I'd like to be able to silence it. I know I can silence the phone when I am getting a call by pressing the volume buttons on the side, but I can't figure out a way to silence the text ring notification.

One way to solve would be to get an mp3 editor and cut out the parts of the song you dont want, save it, then apply that small part as your text notification.

I too need to be able to silence my text notification. On my bberry I could just press any button and it would stop. There are times when its ok for the ringtone to play all the way through but sometimes I do need it to stop immediately, so trimming the ringtone isn't really what I'm looking for. I have found that unlocking the screen does it but usually thats just a bit to late LOL. Besides a few minor issues (mainly me adapting to a droid vs bberry) I LOVE this phone ;)

Ok ready i was messing with it and finally found the solution all you have to do is ***while the music is playing pull down the notification bar at the top of your screen ( Its the same one where the time and date is )**

And boom silence Lol hope this was useful good luck

I wouldn't call this a solution, more of a work-a-around. Good find though.
