    Welcome to the Android Forums!

When you say use the songs for text messages, can you please elaborate on this? Are you talking about using sound bites for text message notifications?

I have 20-30 secs of music/ringtones on my phone & I figured out how to use them for ringtones for calls but not for texts...does that make sense? lol

This may not be quite the same since I carry a Droid X... but go to the App drawer, open the Text Messaging app, his the options button, select "messaging settings", scroll down to "Text Messaging Settings" and change the notification rington (this will change the default text ringtone).
