So I just got my new S7 Edge, but I've run into a weird issue. It seems that when I send a text message (through the default Samsung messaging app), and it is kind of long (meaning more than the 160 characters), the message gets all jumbled. It will take half my text message and then throw in random sentences from previous text messages in that thread to finish it off. Never seen anything like this before. It seems to only occur when I text an iphone. Any suggestions?

If the iphone user is using iMessage, that is likely the issue.

iMessage + Android texting = Oil + Water

I texted my friend using my S5 before on her iphone and there was never an issue. I've never owned an iphone before so I don't know how it works. Can you use iMessage with non-apple phones?

It's hit or miss with iMessage/Android. I always have issues with texts from relatives in California with their iphones. No matter what Android phone I have. That's why I said it is "Likely" the issue but it may not be.

I can tell you if they send very long messages or MMS (pictures), that "may" cause issues.

Group messages from iphones - don't work very well.

Gotcha. That makes sense. I was hoping there was some sort of setting on my end where I could just fix it, but it could be more of an Android-Apple compatibility issue. It only happens with long messages, so I may have to just keep them short.

Yes, unfortunately it sounds like the long msgs are the issue.

Wish I had the answer for you! Good luck.

It could be the carrier. Verizon splits messages that are over 160 characters into separate messages. I'm one of the few people that have Android around me - everyone has an iPhone - and I've never really run in any issues with group messaging. It actually seems to work pretty well.

I'm going with carrier and/or android/iphone issues. I had so many issues with this with my iPhone yeilding BF who was on Sprint and I was on VZW. I have no issues with my family (they're all on iPhones, on VZW); in fact, when they text me, VZW doesn't split up the messages. I haven't had any issues with anyone else (granted, most people I know are on VZW).
