Texting app question

Okay, so I have the Droid 2 under Verizon. I have the texting plan that allows 500 texts outside of Verizon... is there an app in which I can go around this? In other words, is there a texting app. in which I can text people outside Verizon for free? Thank you!

I use textplus but i believe that uses Internet so if you don't have a data plan or wifi probably not the app for you. But you can check it out and see. I know it doesn't count in my texts but i never check my data usage as i have an unlimited data plan.

Handcent and Go SMS has SMS counters built in, but they count total number of texts within or without the network though.
