I am new at texting and would like to know if there is a program were you can text to all phones brom you pc rather than just to your own carrier. I have found sprint.com's texting program but will only allow you to text to sprint customers. What I am looking for is a site that allows texting to and provider. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

gmail chat allows you to text other people with no cost. Only downsides that i have experience is that A) it shows your email address instead of the number, and B) theres no downloadable chat service. Which means you have to log into your gmail account on the internet in order to use it.

I believe the user has to set this up themselves in Aol Instant Messenger(AIM). They will have to set up message forwarding to their phone.

either that or use maybe this? Free Text Messaging - Send Free Text Messages to Any Provider of SMS Texting. I have no idea what the program is, but it appears to be something like what you are describing in your first post.

Google Talk (aka gchat) will do this. It allows you to send a text to a phone number.

Thank you this one seems to work. I will play with it more and respond back. Thank you all for your assistance. This is a great site.

UPDATE: it looks like they will have to respond to your email address and not phone. I will test further

UPDATE: it looks like this will work but still looking for better so people can reply to text and not have to email back
