Help Texting Problem

i have a problem with my htc wildfire s. sometimes i have problems receiving texts and is really annoying when it happens. i took my previous phone back to the shop and bought this and i'm having the same problem again. so i was wondering if there was anything i could do to fix it? when i phone someone the texts come through and i also tried my sim card in multiple phones and sometimes messages came through and other times they didn't. so i was thinking it might be a problem with my sim card but i'm unsure.

Any chance it might be your provider, not the sim or phone?

I know on the samsung galaxy portal, android 2.2 stock sms app has the option to 'auto retrieve' sms/mms - does yours? Is it enabled?

if it was the provider wouldn't other people be having the same issue? it does for mms only and it is enabled. I've not been using the stock app, been using handcent if that makes any difference.
