I am an avid texter and every time I text someone, it takes a good minute to send as well as receive a text. When I type too fast for my Android, it gives me a "Force Close" or "Wait" option. This is sooooooooooooo annoying! It has slowed down tremendously, my texting, which I guess has gotten me out in the world more, but I paid for this peice of sh*t for a reason. Shouldn't I have the OPTION of whether I want to text quickly or not? How can I stop this? Do I just need to get a new phone? Sooooooo annoying!!!!! Does this happen to anyone else?

What app do you use for SMS? Try HandcentSMS available on the Market. Make sure you disable Notifications in stock Messaging app to avoid duplicate notifications.

Also, do you use the physical keyboard? And if this is a newly activated phone, update PRL and Profile.

Most of my texts are sent in a few seconds. On receiving a text msg, the LEDs at the bottom light up, then the screen turns on and a few seconds later the message is displayed.

The speed has nothing to do with Android. It's the network.

I use Handcent. It's definitely the phone that's slow, it sometimes takes a minute just to open the application. Gets on my nerves. If I didn't like the custom look I set up, I'd delete Handcent in a second.
