Anyone else having issues with texts going to the wrong person? I replied to some texts from my buddies and then my GF would reply back asking what i meant. I look through the text history and it appears it was sent to the correct person. Now i am scared to text anyone knowing that it could be sent to the wrong people.

And sometimes when i try to reply to a text it says i need to add a recipient.

I am thinking there is something wrong with the texting on this phone. I got my replacement phone yesterday and the same thing happened.

anyone else seen anything like this?

it almost seems like the bug that they fixed with e-mail when extra recipients get added to replies.

Never had that problem, are you using the stock phone messenger or an app to send texts? I've been using the stocker constnatly for the last month without an issue.

I have had that problem with Handcent and refuse to use it because of it.+1 I have never had it happen with the stock messaging app.

I am using the stock app but i have the SMS popup app installed to. i am not 100% sure but i believe i run into the issue whether i reply through the SMS popup app or the stock messaging app.

I had a similiar issue whe i was using handcent on the droid as well. If i had multiple texts in the popup window it seems like the reply would go to all 3 people. Wonder if its the SMS popup app that i am using.

I would start with that and see. You can imagine what would happen if texts start crossing paths to the wrong people

The stock interface I believe can only have one "conversation" open at a time, so I don't forsee this as a problem as long as you're not using other apps. I'd uninstall whatever else you're using as was said earlier and test it out.

I would probably stop texting if they started going to random people, that would freak me out.

I am going to remove the SMS popup app.

It really freaks me out. I dont want my GF to see my texts to my buddies and i don't want my buddies seeing some of my texts to my GF.

hopefully that fixes it. I wish there was a good way to test it out.

If you add or delete anything, make sure to reset your notifications! I deleted SMS Popup and missed a boatload of txts today because of it! haha
  14. I would be sooooo screwed if that were to happen hahaha. At the very least, I'd definitely be losing a girlfriend or two hahaha.

This happens to my friend who has a motorola droid a good bit of time. I always disabled SMS popup. So I've never had it happen to me.

I've been tracking this problem for some time. I had a Motorola Droid and switched to a Palm Pre until this specific issue is fixed; it almost got me in trouble several times!

It happens cross-network, cross-model, and cross-app. In other words, it happens to T-Mobile or Verizon or whatever users. It happens to Motorola Droid, Google Nexus One, etc model users. It also happens whether you are using the stock messaging app or a third party app.

It seems to be a consistent glitch across all Android devices at a deeper level than just the app level, since at least Android version 2.

I actually have not had the issue recently. I just stopped replying from the pop up window from the SMS pop up app. I am 95% sure that is what caused the issue, for me at least.

I did have to do some serious explaining to the GF on what some of the texts meant but everything is good now.

I am more cautious on what kind of texts i send from now on though :)
  18. I just had this happen to me yesterday. HTC Incredible/Verizon, Stock Android 2.1, SMS Popup:

Texting between 2 different people, I replied to one and I got a call today from the other person asking me what I meant. Horrified, I checked my message log and sure enough - the outgoing message appears in the correct person's conversation log. However, there is no doubt... my phone sent my text message to the WRONG PERSON...

I feel very fortunate, this could have easily been a bad situation for me. So, needless to say, I uninstalled SMS Popup and I'm being much more careful what I put in my text messages! Until this one is solved guys... BE VERY CAREFUL WITH WHAT YOU TEXT.

I'm not 100% sure that this is an SMS Popup issue, but I'll try to provide more info if it happens again. It seems others are having similar issues, I'll paste the discussions I've found below.

text messages going to wrong person - software gets confused!! this is a major issue - Nexus one - Android Help

used to happen on my droid. It would show I was texting one person then once I sent the message would show in a thread to another person. It happened 4-5 times with my droid but hasn't bappened yet on my inc.

It is a very serious and real issue though that I have read about plenty of times.

Just happened to me a couple days ago when I had 2 messages come in at nearly the same time. Like cdodge, it said it went to the right person but in fact went to another. I too have been using SMS Popup. If it's the culprit that sucks bad because everything else about the app is awesome. I've tried both Handcent and Chomp and don't care for either.

After reading the Google Help thread posted above, I'm less inclined to believe it's related to a 3rd party app. Great, we have a defective native texting app with nothing to do but wait for a fix? Awesome.
  22. gcliv

    gcliv Lurker

You are correct. It is a deeper level bug somewhere in the Android software/OS and not related at all to any consistent behavior or any 3rd party tools or apps.

Yet another reason why I will not use SMS Popup or Handcent. If this is a bug with the Android OS, has it been reported to Google as a bug?

It might be a API bug...

Although I've used chompSMS a bunch and never had a problem...
  25. I'm not sure if we know enough at this point to conclude that. If you search the Market and view the SMS Popup reviews, there are several people having the same issue. Perhaps the same thing is affecting everyone, or there may be more than one issue at work here...?

I don't use any other texting apps only stock - I can't believe this is happening #veryscary

I have an EVO Has any other Evo users had this problem?
