There are free programs like Lookout that work great - and even without GPS enabled.

Curious - What makes it $7 better?

Where's My Droid, along with several other free apps, already do this... and did I mention that most are free?

    I second Where's My Droid.

I've been reading good things about Tasker - though I already paid for and am happy with the less expensive Setting Profiles (free trial here). But as far as this functionality goes, there are multiple free apps to do it.

Find the nearest donut shop to the police station. Offer half-dozen and coffee to anybody who looks into it.

I like Mobile Defense, I recommend checking it out. I think it is a bit more polished than Where's My Droid and others. I welcome other opinions though...

I like Wheres my droid. I don't like some of the others because I don't want to have to log into their webpage to check my location.

If I could add one feature to this app it would be to lock the phone from being used if the GPS command is triggered. If its stolen I want to lock them out. I know others do this but again I don't like all my info running through a 3rd party.

I don't know if you are serious or not and with all due respect. This would be the absolute last thing that I would think of doing. In fact I, personally, wouldn't even consider it.

Always think personal safety first and never put yourself in a situation where in you may be endangered. You might be the biggest guy on the planet but one fact stands you do not know who or what is behind that door. Not to mention, that you would most probably be in an area that you are unfamiliar with. It all adds up to a potentially dangerous and life threatening situation.

I'll put it to you this way. If my doorbell rang at 3am the first thing that I would do is to put my boots on, then grab my flashlight, then my pistol, load a full mag, next chamber a round and safety off. Now it's time to see who's at the door. If there was some guy outside with a baseball bat making demands and threats the door stays closed and I call the cops. I think you get the picture. I'm not saying this to sound like a tough guy, I'm far from it, it's just the reality of it. I've once answered the door just like that and it's not fun. But, I would rather be safe and alive than a victim. And no, I'm not a paranoid person, and I do live in a very safe neighborhood.

If your phone has been stolen and you think you know where it is. Call the police and give them all the details and explain to them how you know where it is.
