    In my house.
Disclaimer: I am not trying to start a flame war, I'm just having a bad day and need to rant. If the mods decide this should be locked or removed, I understand.

I am currently the only Android user in my office of about 100 people. I am surrounded by BBs and iPhones. The BB users are okay, but the iPhone users can be extremely trying! (I am the in-house graphic designer, and I use WINDOWS! I am so sick of people looking at me aghast and saying "You don't use a Mac?" when they see my set-up. that's another story though...)

I am fortunate enough to get to demo Android units from Rogers Wireless to write reviews on my blog, so in addition to my personal Magic, I get to bring in cool new Android phones to show off. (So far the X10 and Acer Liquid E).

One of my co-workers is looking to get a new phone, so I've been showing him Android. Of course, one of the nosy iPhoneys decided to butt in with "NO, you should get an iPhone! I loooove my iPhone, it's amazing!!!!" (Yes the exclamation marks were there when he said it).

I replied that Android was just as good as iPhone. The co-worker who is looking for a new phone said "but iPhone is easier to use."

I asked why he thought that, and he replied (gesturing to the iPhone co-worker) "well, that's what they say."

The iPhoney just keeps ranting about how much he LOOOOVES his iPhone. When I suggested he might like to try Android to see if he might like it, he declared "I already love my iPhone, why would I want to try anything else?"

It's so frustrating. It's not the iPhone I dislike, it's the hordes of brainwashed zombies who parrot the marketing of Mr. Jobs, and muddy the whole issue.

I want Android to do well, but it's such a struggle dealing with the Fanboy variable.

Rant over. Time to eat. :-(

Well, iPhone is a lot more accessible to people because the software was developed for dummies who aren't exactly tech-savvy. I mean for most power hungry people will just jailbreak there phone and then it opens a lot more out of the phone rather than not jail breaking it. I mean who really want's a device that doesn't do well unless it's 'unlocked' ? And that's kinda like the Android platform and rooted, except... rooting is much more accessible to the masses and even the operating system itself is open source so that means it has a much more stable community interns of developers etc. Android is more open overall and people don't like it. And EVO 4G is kicking ass, so screw iPhone 4G (Oh yeah it's not even 4G, take the g off :p)

For your other story, Macs are stereotypically used by designers because they like the simplicity of the OS, they are perfectly used for design and creation because they are probably over secure about their computer and they don't want to deal with viruses and keyloggers. But that's just a 2nd opinion.

I hate the notion that Macs are better for design than Windows. There's nothing a Mac can do than a PC can't do equally if not better, in general computing, let alone just design. *slams head repeatedly against desk*

The only reason I can think of is that staring at a white glass bezel makes you compelled to put glossy reflections on anything you design, and that seems to be popular at the moment.

Well I'm a designer and depending on what I'm designing, I'll probably make a glossy reflection if required. Sometimes they just seem like a nice touch; but I'm a Windows user :p

Here's an idea. Let them believe what they want. When people tell me to get the new iPhone when they find out that I am in the market for an Android phone I pull out my iPhone 3G and tell them that I have an iPhone and I explain to them why I don't like it. I then tell them that if they want an iPhone that they should definitely get it since it's about what they like, not me. That generally shuts them up.

Glossy is fine, lol. But overdoing it because Apple uses them makes me rage. You might as well cover your design in lens flares.

Unfortunately a great deal of people in this world are stupid, and will not make legitimate comparisons. If they can't justify why they believe the iphone to be better, they are sheep. I ignore sheep, except the fluffy ones :p.

The best defense is to learn as much about Android and Apple as possible, that way you have an informed opinion backed up with facts. Fanbois don't use facts, "it just works", for example. You'll leave them desperately quoting Apple's marketing slogans instead of retorting with a cogent argument.

iPhoneys make me want to vomit.
The typical iPhoney has diarrhea of the mouth enough as it is.

'it just works' - so does my Nexus one running cyanogen, and it worked for months before I rooted.

YouTube - Parody of 1984 Apple Ad

    It speaks for itself.
Show this to a fanboy and they will get LIVID.
It's actually kind of funny. :D

    I saw the 1984 ad, in 1984.
I thought that Apple was better back then, and they were.
That was when real humans ran the company.

    No more...

Post your reviews of the Liquid E and Xperia X10. Do you do any head to head comparisons? Do you review Telus phones like Milestone and Desire? Lol show the Desire to those Apple fanboys

Well, I personally don't care what other people think about the equipment I use and I really don't care what they use. Whenever they show me their latest and greatest, I just nod, smile and congratulate them on their fine purchase.

    @stargazertony

Never have I heard a more level headed person in my life. I wish I had the ability to do this, but when somebody has and iphone and suggests it to other people, I feel the compulsive urge to tell the person that the iphone guy is wrong, show him an android phone, and expose all those secrets that iphone guys don't want you to know, such as flash support.

This usually does not work on them.. I have tried.
Simple logic is really too simple for these guys as it shoots right over their heads.
I don't care what they use either but when they start shoving their iwidget in your face saying 'see look at this isn't this cool i can do this - can you do this?'

These days I remind them to think about those Chinese kids jumping off the roof and slitting their wrists to bring them their iWidgets.
They usually respond in one of 2 ways... the most common is that 'M$ and other companies are just as guilty and the second is 'I don't care about them'

So, it's either and excuse for Apple or total disregard for abused workers which backs up my assumption that iFans lack empathy.

    Oh and @mkeath
The fanboys think Steve Jobs is either a god or a demigod, so no he is not human in their eyes.

You do realise that your Nexus One that you love so much was also built at the exact same factory.

    Ah yes >.<

I'm thinking of Nokia or Motorola...

Anyway, to assume that any of these phones are made in factories with good working conditions, hours, etc, would be quite silly.

Meh, I confuse the iFans. When someone asks about my android, or I get sucked in somehow, I usually say this, exact, line, "I would explain the merits & benefits of Android over iPhone, but more than likely you either wouldn't understand, or, reply with useless Apple marketing regirgitations like "it has apps" or "it just work" so why should I try if your not going to listen either way?"

That usuallu catches them off gaurd.

Just use sweeter homes to make your android look like an iphone so they won't know the difference. Then throw a radio and news widget on the screen to make it look like it has one up on the iPhone.

LOL, I'm doing the opposite and putting apps from Cydia (the jailbroken store) on my 3Gs to make it look more like Android! Haven't found much that worked well, but did find one that gave me the perspective wallpaper, that's neat! But I am far from an iPhone fanboi, as I can't wait to get out from Steve Job's (aka: the devil's) thumb and into an Android handset! Unfortunately, I have a year left on my iPhone contract, and can't afford to pay the ETF, so I'm just going to ride it out and bail on Apple ASAP. Anyways, by the time I can make the switch, these cancy Evos and Incredibles and Droid X's and Galaxy S's will all be dinosaurs left to rust away in landfills, my options should be sweet!

By the way, the only good iPhone is a jailbroken iPhone, they are so crippled stock, it's not even funny. Jailbroke mine within a week of getting it, and I've been happy with it ever since. Although a little less happy after seeing my 2 buddies at work get a DInc and an Evo!

OS is all one big choice to make. iPhone OS was made for complete idiots (in my opinion). An Android device has just as much to offer as iPhone, if not more. The whole fanboy thing and the fact that Apple has the market brainwashed contributes to the fact that nobody wants to go and buy a Droid now.
